As a trainer, I started making my own blinkers, saddle towels, and ice boots back in 1986. People would bring me things for repairs or bring me patterns and ask if I could make them. I would get asked where I got my blinkers, and I told them that I make them.
From there I moved onto saddle towels and ice boots. This was all done on a home embroidery machine. Logos on jackets and hats were a frequent request, but at the time I wasn’t able to do them with the machine limitations.
In about the year 2000 my husband and I started researching commercial embroidery machines and decided on a Tajima brand single head commercial machine, which he [took over]. Along with being able to customize our customer’s horse apparel, we were now able to make apparel and hats with customers logos or designs on them.
Then we had someone contact us to decorate jockey silks, helmet covers, and blinkers that she was making. We did that for a couple of years until sadly she passed away. After that we started making jockey silks ourselves.
Now, we’ve expanded what we are able to do, going from embroidery to dye-sublimation, vinyl applications, and direct-to-garment printing. Our son has also recently joined the business and is our in-house graphic designer and problem solver. We have more on the way, too! Stick around for laser engraving and etching options in the future!
